Button Text

A simple method for adding text to a button using Paint Shop Pro v 4.12

Follow these steps to add plain text to a blank button using version 4.12 of Paint Shop Pro.

1) Open the blank button in PSP.

2) Press Shift + D to duplicate the window.

3) Close the original window, therefore saving a blank button for future use.

4) Choose Colour/Increase Color Depth/16.7 Million Colors.

5) Select the colour for the text.

6) Click on the text tool and click on the button to bring up the Add Text dialog box.

7) Choose your font type and size.

8) Type the word you want to appear on the button and click on OK.

9) While the text is still selected, you can click on it and move it into the correct position on the button.

10) If you want to add a Drop Shadow to the text, now is the time to do it.
Choose Image/Special Effects/Add Drop Shadow, then select the correct
offset for the shadow ( I suggest 2 or 3) the opacity (play around with this
to get the effect you like, maybe start with 150) and the blur.

11) Choose Selections/None to drop the text on the button.

12) Choose Color/Decrease Color Depth/256 Colors.

13) Select the Optimized palette and click on OK.

14) Choose File/Save As and save the button with it's new name.
